In addition to winning championships, McClain's profile has grown throughout the years as a consequence of a number of noteworthy performances. At the age of 11, McClain stunned the audience with her balancing beam routine on the Steve Harvey-hosted programme Little Big Shots. She made a comeback to the big screen last summer when Peacock's documentary Golden: The Journey of USA's Elite Gymnasts, which was made by Lebron James' business UNINTERRUPTED, starred her as one of five Olympic hopes.

Golden gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at McClain's preparation for her first season of senior competition, making her a gymnast to keep an eye on in the run-up to the 2024 Olympics.

She won the U.S. balance beam title as a junior in 2018 and successfully defended it the following year, winning silver on the uneven bars, vault, and all-around.

McClain won gold in the all-around and on vault, her favourite apparatus, at the 2019 City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. She also won bronze on the bars and the floor exercise. McClain was chosen to compete in the 2020 Gymnix International in Montreal, Canada, the following March. There, she won gold in every event, secured silver in the all-around, and helped her team win the competition.

Just a few months before competing in her first senior international competition at the 2021 World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan, McClain moved to WOGA Gymnastics in Plano, Texas, last summer. The event has stuck with her and continues to inspire her.

What will be her first focus after the competition on Sunday? Enjoy a well-earned day of relaxation on a Tampa beach.

The campaign to host the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 then continues.
